Honeywell control equipment for buildings

Honeywell offers a range of HVAC control and building management equipment designed to be delivered through a network of partner integrators. Each project is designed, programmed and commissioned by a partner with specific training.

This has a practical advantage for the building owner. Whoever installs the equipment knows its programming and has access to the manufacturer's documentation, tools and technical support. The result is an HVAC BMS with Honeywell equipment, open protocols and a clearly identified party responsible for the integration.

This equipment works with BACnet, Modbus, KNX and LonWorks, so it coexists with equipment from other manufacturers: chillers, boilers, variable speed drives or meters. You can see how we approach this in open BMS integration.

Honeywell products we integrate

We work with the full range, from supervision down to room level:

  • Optimizer Supervisor. Niagara 4-based supervision: graphics, alarms, trends, schedules and reports from a browser.
  • Optimizer controllers. Programmable controllers for air handling units, boiler rooms, chillers and heating and cooling generation.
  • Zone and fan coil controllers. Room-by-room control, with room thermostats and communication with the supervisor.
  • Legacy Eagle, Panther and Lion. CARE-programmed controllers still found in many buildings, which we maintain, integrate or replace.

We choose each Honeywell controller according to the equipment to be controlled and the number of points, not according to the catalogue. We record it in the points list before quoting, together with the signals of each piece of equipment and its communication protocol. That way you know exactly what you are buying.

We will reply within 24 working hours with an initial assessment.

Honeywell and Niagara 4 Supervisor

Honeywell supervision is built on the Niagara Framework from Tridium, a Honeywell group company. Honeywell's Niagara 4 Supervisor, the Optimizer Supervisor, brings together on a single screen, accessible from any authorised workstation, the Honeywell controllers and third-party equipment communicating over open protocols.

For the user this means:

  • Browser access, with no software to install on each workstation.
  • Our own 3D graphics for each air handling unit or plant room, modelled by our team.
  • Short, readable and unique point names, with Project Haystack tags.
  • Historical data ready for energy reports or fault detection.
  • Schedules, setpoints and alarms that authorised staff can configure themselves.

To find out more about the platform, see our page on Niagara N4 integrators in Spain.

Existing Honeywell Eagle, Panther and Lion systems

Many buildings in Spain have Honeywell Eagle, Panther or Lion controllers installed years ago. They work, but they tend to have three problems: an obsolete supervisory system, little documentation and dependence on whoever programmed them. On top of that, nobody often keeps an up-to-date copy of the CARE programs.

As an official partner, we can work at three levels:

  • Maintain. Review programs, correct sequences and recover documentation.
  • Integrate. Bring the existing controllers into a current Niagara supervisor, with secure remote access.
  • Replace. Replace, in phases, devices without spares or critical devices with Optimizer controllers.

The three are usually combined depending on the condition of each device, and the building is never left without control. The full path is explained in Honeywell CARE to Niagara migration.

Why work with an official Honeywell partner

A BMS doesn't end on the day it is commissioned. For years to come, setpoints will need changing, points will need adding and faults will need diagnosing. An official partner gives you:

  • Certified manufacturer training for the technical team.
  • Access to Honeywell tools, firmware and support.
  • Licences registered to the building owner.
  • Handover of the station's programs, graphics and database.
  • Continuity: the system doesn't depend on a single person.

At ACIPro, we also build and test the control panels in our workshop to REBT and UNE-EN 61439, apply UNE-EN ISO 52120-1 to classify the controls and follow the principles of the ISA/IEC 62443 series for cybersecurity: encrypted remote access, individual user accounts and a segmented control network.

How we start a Honeywell project

Whether it's a new build or a refurbishment, we follow the same order:

  1. Site visit and survey of the HVAC equipment.
  2. Points list and control sequences, with reference to ASHRAE Guideline 36 where applicable.
  3. Technical and financial proposal with the right Honeywell range.
  4. Engineering, workshop-built panels, installation and point-to-point testing.
  5. Training for maintenance staff and users, and complete handover documentation.

If you already have a quote from another installer, we can also review it technically: we check that the points list covers what is needed, that the sequences are defined and that the licences and documentation will be in your name. In existing buildings, the control class under UNE-EN ISO 52120-1 helps us prioritise what to improve first.

What if my building already has Schneider Electric, Siemens or other equipment?

That's fine, and it's the most common situation. As well as being a Honeywell partner, our technicians are certified by Schneider Electric, we integrate EcoStruxure Building Operation and we also integrate Siemens Desigo with ABT Site. A Honeywell installation can coexist with equipment from other manufacturers via BACnet or Modbus, and we propose whatever best fits what you already have, without forcing you to replace everything.

Case study

Gran Teatro de Cáceres: air handling units in a Niagara supervisory system

The Gran Teatro de Cáceres needed to view and manage its air handling units from a supervisory workstation that was clear for the maintenance staff.

What we did

  • Integration of the air handling units into a Niagara supervisory system.
  • In-house 3D modelling of each item of equipment, such as air handling unit CL2 with heat recovery, coils and fans.
  • Graphics with statuses, setpoints and alarms that are easy for the maintenance contractor to read.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

What is ACIPro's relationship with Honeywell?

We are an official Honeywell partner for building control. Honeywell develops the products, and we carry out the design, programming and commissioning as the integrator, with the manufacturer's training, tools and support.

What is a Honeywell BMS?

It is a building management system made up of Honeywell controllers for HVAC and heating and cooling generation, and a supervisor based on Niagara 4. It lets you view statuses, change schedules and setpoints, receive alarms and store historical data from a browser, and integrate equipment from other manufacturers via BACnet, Modbus, KNX or LonWorks.

Can I integrate equipment from other brands into a Honeywell system?

Yes. Because it works with open protocols, the supervisor integrates chillers, boilers, variable speed drives, meters or KNX systems from other manufacturers. In the points list we state which signals are read from each item of equipment and over which protocol, to avoid surprises on site.

Are Honeywell Eagle controllers still supported?

Eagle, Panther and Lion controllers are still in service in many buildings. We can maintain them, integrate them into a current Niagara supervisor or replace them with Optimizer controllers when spares run out. We assess each device according to its condition and the availability of spares.

What is the advantage of hiring an official Honeywell partner?

The partner has manufacturer training, access to tools and technical support, and can hand over the programming and licences in your name. That way the system doesn't depend on any one person, and any future extension is carried out with complete documentation.

Does the Honeywell supervisor need a dedicated computer?

The Optimizer Supervisor is installed on a computer or server in the building, but it is used from a browser on any authorised workstation. Remote access is via an encrypted connection with individual user accounts, without exposing the control network to the internet.

Call us or message us on WhatsApp on +34 634 456 471 and we'll go through it with you.

Do you have a control system that nobody knows how to maintain?

We review your installation and tell you what can be reused, what should be replaced and how much you could save.
